New! City workshops
New for 2016 – if you're looking for a day to improve your general camera technique, get to grips with shooting in natural light, and pick up a few tips and tricks when it comes to post-processing, come with me on a day-long workshop in the greatest city in the world.
Predominantly focussed on the architecture and sights along the South Bank (although we're flexible – where do you want to shoot?), over the course of a day – ideally starting early to make the most of deserted streets and better light – this course is designed to get you seeing photo opportunities every time you turn your head.
Once we've bagged a few decent shots, we can take the weigh off, find a quiet spot and get to grips with finishing images properly – I can help you with Photoshop, Lightroom and a range of other options, whether you're a total beginner or have some experience. My approach with editing software is short n' sweet – I want to get pictures in and out of my computer as fast as possible so don't worry about drowning in technical detail while I drone on about sliders.
When do these workshops run?
These city workshops are ad hoc, which means they run when people ask me to run them. Suggest a date to me using the box below and we'll go from there.
How big are the groups?
Group size is up to you: these workshops can run as 1-1 sessions, or for partners, friends, work colleagues, you name it. If there's enough interest around a few close-together dates I might run groups together, but with a maximum group size of six you'll get plenty of attention and minimal chance of getting lost.
What kind of camera do I need?
A DSLR with a wide-angle lens is preferable as we'll be able to get more done, take more creative pictures and dig deeper into how great pictures are made. If you've got a few lenses to try out, so much the better. If you don't have a DSLR, a reasonable bridge camera will cut the mustard. I'm not a gear snob and have worked with workshop attendees with everything from compact cameras to top-end DSLRs!
Why should I choose you?
Photography tours in London are ten-a-penny. I've been running wildlife photography workshops for ZSL, the RSPB and Exodus Travels for five years with groups ranging in size from individuals to groups of over 20. I'm an experienced professional photographer who knows London like the back of his proverbial hand so if nothing else, you'll get a few decent shots and we won't get lost. At the very least, if we do get lost, my experience running other workshops means I'll be able to style it out and you'll be none the wiser.
How much does it cost?
These workshops can run for anything from sunrise to sunset (and beyond!) so your best bet is to drop me a line using the form below, let me know what you want, and I'll suggest an itinerary with a price. We're laid back like that.
